Russia coach Guus Hiddink mentioned that the game between Greece and Russia is a battle of the outsiders, while his Greece counterpart Otto Rehhagel admitted that things had been “difficult” these days,before the decisive match against Russia in Group D.
Bought teams tonight will play their last chances in EURO 2008 after teir first match results Greece and Rucssia will have everything to play for in their second Euro 2008 Group D, an other defeat practicaly means the end to their EURO 2008 adventure.

The title defenders Greece will have to show their qualeties if they want to keep their chances alive in the Uefa Euro 2008 against Russia. The Greeks began their tournament as well as Russia weak, against Sweden, very few chances were created by Greece and the 2-0 loss thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimović and Petter Hansson goals seemed to be well deserved by the swedish side in Salzburg on Monday.
Greece has won only once against Russia in eight games. In November 1993 Greece won the Russian team 1-0 in their last match of qualifying for the World Cup Fifa 1994. The seven other confrontations have ended in four draws and three wins for Russia, including two victories in the qualifying rounds for Euro 96. Russia won 3-0 in Thessaloniki in April 1995. Six months later Russia won in Moscow.

EURO 2008 is the third euros for Russia as an independent state, following the 1996 and 2004. As part of the old Soviet Union Russia won the European Championship Uefa 1960 and played the final in 1964, 1972 and 1988.

The Russians have failed to pass the first stage in their last four participations in the final stages for Uefa Championship, they really need to show their qualities and all the concentration if they do not wanna join Switzerland and France [out of EURO 2008]
Russia coach Guus Hiddink referred to his team as “young team” needing to “learn fast”, he said “It’s like a final and I’m curious to see how our players manage, not just tactically but mentally and emotionally,” said Hiddink. “Many, many teams have the experience of playing in finals and the [UEFA] Champions League. It’s up to our players to see how they cope with playing in the finals.”

Both teams started with a defeat in the tournament, so the duel will be filled with emotion in this Group D.
